A delicious and simple strawberry shortcake recipe that everyone will love!

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, cold and cubed
  • 1 cup milk
  • 4 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • 1/4 cup sugar (for strawberries)
  • 1 cup heavy whipping cream
  • 2 tablespoons powdered sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cut in butter until mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
  4. Stir in milk just until moistened.
  5. Turn onto a floured surface; knead gently.
  6. Roll out and cut into rounds.
  7. Place on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes.
  8. While cakes are baking, mix sliced strawberries with sugar and let sit.
  9. Whip cream with powdered sugar until soft peaks form.
  10. Once the shortcakes are cool, cut in half, layer with strawberries, and top with whipped cream.

Notes

  • Best served fresh, but can be stored in the fridge for a short time.
  • Use other berries for variation.
