  • 6 egg yolks
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2/3 cup milk
  • 1 1/4 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup mascarpone cheese
  • 1 cup brewed espresso, cooled
  • 1/2 cup coffee liqueur (optional)
  • 24 ladyfinger cookies
  • 2 tablespoons cocoa powder for dusting

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, whisk together the egg yolks and sugar until light and fluffy.
  2. Heat the milk in a saucepan until warm, then slowly add it to the egg mixture, whisking continuously.
  3. Transfer the mixture back to the saucepan and cook over low heat until it thickens.
  4. Remove from heat and let it cool slightly before folding in the heavy cream and mascarpone cheese.
  5. In a shallow dish, mix the brewed espresso with coffee liqueur.
  6. Dip each ladyfinger briefly into the espresso mixture and layer them in a serving dish.
  7. Spread half of the mascarpone mixture over the ladyfingers.
  8. Add another layer of dipped ladyfingers and top with the remaining mascarpone mixture.
  9. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
  10. Before serving, dust the top with cocoa powder.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, use freshly brewed espresso.
  • Chilling the tiramisu overnight will enhance the flavors.
