  • 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 batch green frosting
  • 1 batch black edible glitter
  • 12 chocolate wafer cookies
  • 12 candy corn

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a cupcake pan with cupcake liners.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together the oil, vanilla, buttermilk, and eggs. Add this mixture to the dry ingredients and mix until well combined.
  4. Fill the cupcake liners about 2/3 full with the batter.
  5. Bake in the preheated oven for 18-20 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cupcakes to cool completely before frosting.
  7. Decorate with green frosting, a chocolate wafer on top, and candy corn as a witch’s hat.

Notes

  • For a more intense flavor, consider adding a pinch of espresso powder to the batter.
  • These cupcakes can be made a day ahead and stored in an airtight container.
