Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, mix the flour, sugar, salt, and baking powder.
  2. In another bowl, combine the milk, egg, and melted butter.
  3. Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until a soft dough forms.
  4. Turn the dough onto a floured surface and roll out to 1/4 inch thickness.
  5. Cut into squares and let rest for 30 minutes.
  6. Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C).
  7. Fry the squares until they are golden brown, about 2-3 minutes on each side.
  8. Remove and drain on paper towels, then dust with powdered sugar.
