Crème Brûlée French Toast

An indulgent breakfast that combines the creamy texture of crème brûlée with the classic comfort of French toast.

  • 1 loaf brioche bread
  • 6 large eggs
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Slice the brioche bread into thick slices.
  2. In a bowl, whisk together the eggs, heavy cream, milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until well combined.
  3. Soak the slices of bread in the egg mixture for 5 minutes on each side.
  4. Preheat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter.
  5. Fry the soaked bread slices until golden brown on both sides.
  6. Transfer to a baking dish and sprinkle with brown sugar.
  7. Broil for 2-3 minutes to caramelize the sugar on top.

Notes

  • For best results, use stale brioche bread.
  • Serve with fresh berries or maple syrup for added flavor.
