Citrus Pull-Apart Bread

  • 2 1/4 teaspoons instant yeast
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 tablespoon lemon zest
  • 1 tablespoon orange zest
  • 1/4 cup citrus juice (lemon or orange)

Instructions

  1. In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, yeast, and salt.
  2. In a separate bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, and eggs until combined.
  3. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients along with the citrus zest and juice. Stir to combine.
  4. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let it rise until doubled in size, about 1 hour.
  6. Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into small pieces.
  7. Shape each piece into a ball and roll in additional sugar if desired.
  8. Layer the dough balls in a greased baking pan.
  9. Cover the pan and let the dough rise again for about 30 minutes.
  10. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 25-30 minutes, until golden brown.
  11. Let cool before serving, and enjoy!
