- 1 pound boneless chicken thighs
- 1 cup plain yogurt
- 2 tablespoons garam masala
- 1 tablespoon ground coriander
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 teaspoon turmeric
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 1 large onion, chopped
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
- 1 can (15 oz) tomato puree
- 1 cup heavy cream
- 1 tablespoon sugar
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped
- In a bowl, combine yogurt, garam masala, coriander, cumin, turmeric, and salt. Add chicken and coat well. Marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
- Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until golden brown.
- Add garlic and ginger, and cook for another 2 minutes.
- Stir in the marinated chicken and cook until chicken is browned on all sides.
- Add tomato puree, cream, and sugar. Simmer for 20 minutes until the sauce thickens.
- Remove from heat and garnish with cilantro before serving.
