Chicken Tikka Masala

Chicken Tikka Masala is a delicious and comforting dish that combines tender pieces of chicken marinated in spices and yogurt with a rich, creamy tomato sauce.

  • 1 pound boneless chicken thighs
  • 1 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tablespoons garam masala
  • 1 tablespoon ground coriander
  • 1 tablespoon ground cumin
  • 1 teaspoon turmeric
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh ginger, grated
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato puree
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 2 teaspoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon fresh cilantro, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine yogurt, garam masala, coriander, cumin, turmeric, and salt. Add chicken and coat well. Marinate for at least 1 hour, preferably overnight.
  2. Heat vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onion and sauté until golden brown.
  3. Add garlic and ginger, and cook for another 2 minutes.
  4. Stir in the marinated chicken and cook until chicken is browned on all sides.
  5. Add tomato puree, cream, and sugar. Simmer for 20 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  6. Remove from heat and garnish with cilantro before serving.

Notes

  • Serve with rice or naan for a complete meal.
  • Adjust the level of spices according to your taste.
