Birria Recipe: Indulgent Beef Stew that Will Satisfy Your Cravings

A delicious and rich Birria recipe that combines tender beef with aromatic spices.

Ingredients

  • 3 pounds beef chuck
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 bay leaves
  • 1 teaspoon cumin powder
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 2 teaspoons oregano
  • 3 dried guajillo peppers
  • 3 dried ancho peppers
  • 8 cups beef broth
  • salt to taste

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, brown the beef chuck over medium-high heat.
  2. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, cooking until softened.
  3. Stir in the bay leaves, cumin, paprika, oregano, and the rehydrated guajillo and ancho peppers.
  4. Pour in the beef broth and bring to a boil.
  5. Reduce heat, cover, and simmer for 3 hours until beef is tender.
  6. Remove the beef, shred it, and return it to the pot.

Notes

  • Serve with corn tortillas for dipping.
  • Garnish with cilantro and lime.
